Did you know that 0.9 repeating (that's 0.99999 all the way to infinity) is equal to 1?
Let's say 0.9 repeating is equal to X:
X = 0.99999 repeating
Right, that's perfectly logical. Now multiply both sides by 10:
10X = 9.99999 repeating
That, too, is possible. So now let's make it interesting. This is the odd part. Subtract X from both sides:
9X = 9
Did you catch that? X is 0.99999 repeating and also 1x, so you can make 10X into 9X and can make 9.999 repeating 9 because you don't have to replace X with its worth all at once. Now divide:
X = 1 = 0.9999999 repeating to infinity
Ain't that just trippy?

Starting to read the archives to Avalon, turns out that it's pretty tight. You know, it's going to be really sad when, SOMEday, I will have read every single Keenspot comic. When THAT'S over with, I'll start on Keenspace. ^_^
